Globalization of Diseases

Modern means of transportation allow people to travel around the world; they allow diseases move around the world, too. One example is AIDS, HIV. This disease has spread through the world.
According to the World Healh Organization, “ as of 2004, an estimated of 1 039000 to 1,185,000 persons in the United States were living with HIV/AIDS, and estimated of 39.5 million people world wide are living wit HIV West Nile Virus” (Globalization and diseases). The West Nile Virus is a disease that can affect humans, birds, mosquitoes, horses and others mammals.
According to United States, over 15000 people have tested positive for WNV infection since 1999 in their country. The current “swine flu “ or H1N1 virus is another good example, this flu come to Costa Rica, and just in few days 718 cases were confirmed, including the president Oscar Arias.
As result of the virus there were 27 deaths. Globalization has brought negative consequences such as infectious diseases.

Technological rally (letter)

Respected Sir:

The purpose of this letter is to give the thanks to you and the same time congratulations for has been prepared a wonderful activity about technology.

I had the opportunity attend to technological rally in which I obtained knowledge about different companies, for example: I visited HP stand, their exhibitors and workers explained to us, some of their functions in the company, also some requirements that need to have people to register to work there.
Another company that was in the rally was Microsoft, two people showed us some of the improvements that have the Windows 7, such as security, speed, animation, it was really interesting.

I can tell you, the activity was very good for me because I like so much the technology and the principal reason is that I study System Engineering. The organization was excellent and the people had knowledge of the subject exhibiting.
I liked so much the moment when some companies give us presents, ha ha ha.

I hope that you continue organizing these kind activities.

The Global Warming

The global warming is defined as “a phenomenon of the increase in global average temperature of the Earth and the oceans”

About five years ago, the global warming topic has become popular due to the constants changes of climate that we look every day. Some of these changes are: the unbearable heat, the weather stations have changed and much of the flora and fauna has disappeared.

Experts in the field, have created many theories about this issue, one of them is that global warming is due to the greenhouse effect (the emission of gases to the atmosphere, especially CO2).
It is evident, that the industrialization, poor waste management, activities such as open pit mining, among others has caused enormous damages to the environment (water pollution, species loss, human disease, adverse effects on crops, etc) .

It is true that global warming is already causing much destruction around the world, but not all countries contribute with the same amount of pollution because the industrialized countries such as USA, Spain, Germany, Brazil, France, England and all that are considered of first world emit more gases into the environment than underdeveloped countries as Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, etc.
Almost all governments are taking actions to reduce the warming which are not strong enough considering the damage that has been done.

In my opinion, some days ago El Tribunal Supremo de Elecciones violated the right of free expression to a catholic bishop because he said to some believers the last September don’t vote for candidates who “deny God and uphold principles that go against life, against marriage and the family.

The bishop, José Francisco Ulloa, who is from Cartago”, had to submit to be judged by the “laws of Costa Rica”.
It is true that Article 28 of the Costa Rican Constitution prohibits clerics make political propaganda, but Catholicism is the official state religion.

El tribunal Supremo de Elecciones, which in Costa Rica is an autonomous power of the state, ordered to José Francisco Ulloa “To pay costs and damages caused”.

I think that this ruling has to be able to have habeas corpus by Ulloa because the bishop was speaking to Catholics and never named a specific candidate, so this ruling is a very serious attack on freedom of expression and the principle of religious freedom.
